It stimulatesβ-catenin degradation by stabilizing axin, resulting in the inhibition ofthe canonical WNT pathway. Bothtankyrase isoforms interact with a highly conserved domain of axin andstimulate its degradation through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.
